Frilly Pot Workshop

If you know me, you’ll know I can rarely resist terracotta or a frilly edge… so naturally, we’re combining the two.

Join us for a slow Saturday morning with Charmaine from Towcester-based My Clay Therapy, where you’ll create your very own terracotta plant pot finished with a hand-formed frilly rim.

No experience needed - just come along, switch off for a couple of hours and enjoy a little creativity, with drinks and cake included, of course.

The morning shift aka the behind the scenes that doesn’t usually make it to Instagram because it’s not very pretty!

I’ve had a little change around at the barn recently because there is something new coming to the shop this week. It means I’ve had to move some of my shelving back to the barn which has worked out nicely because I’m in desperate need of the storage!

I’ve always wanted the barn to look lovely but functionality comes first. So I’ve now got a whole wall of shelving for all of our lovely fabrics which means we’ll eventually be able to hold more stock and therefore dispatch orders faster.

But for now, it’s back to the shop to get everything sorted ready for us to open as normal on Wednesday! Any guesses?

If you’re new here, I have a little studio called ‘The Barn’ where I make our products. It’s only 5 minutes away from the shop which makes it feel even more special to keep everything local.

It can be a bit of a juggle at times but British made products will always be my priority. The dream one day would be to have a little in house team helping me!

Anyway, here is a new design I’ve been working on and the first two cushions will be available in store on Friday!

I never expected this when I decided to open a shop. Being part of the community is so special. From people that have watched my journey over the last few years to people who trust me to make items for their homes.

Anyway, let’s not pretend you didn’t gasp at the orange fan…it was the only one that I could get hold of! Horrendous I know! Maybe that should be my next collection…

Yes you heard that correctly…Miller & Chalk officially has a little team! 👏🏻

I cannot believe I’m saying this. If you told me a year ago that in a year’s time I’d have a little team working in my shop on my local high street, I would have never of believed you! It’s funny how things work out.

I was always a little scared about employing someone, finding the right person and trusting them. So I feel so lucky to have Emma and Kathy in the shop, they really are the perfect duo!

Emma and I worked together many years ago (could even be 10 years ago!) when we were both very young. You may recognise her as she has ran several creative workshops in the shop this year as she’s a very talented illustrator!

Kathy and I met last year when I opened my pop-up shop and she brings such a lovely warmth to the shop.

I remember people telling me “don’t ever employ anyone, it’s a nightmare!” But I’m so pleased I didn’t listen as I feel very lucky to say I’ve found the perfect team ♥️
