Astwell is one of those lovely, quiet cushions that pulls a whole combination together. The neutral fabric has a beautiful woven texture and is deliberately understated, making it perfect for sitting alongside checks, stripes and smaller patterns.
 
The finish differs slightly depending on the size you choose. Our 50 × 50cm square is finished with piping in 100% wool, adding a little definition around the edge. The 51 × 30cm rectangle is reversible, with Astwell on the front and our Westhorpe fabric on the back – simply turn it around whenever you fancy a different look.
 
Each cushion is handmade by Louise in Northamptonshire and comes complete with a wonderfully plump duck feather pad. I always choose feather over hollow-fibre because it gives you that lovely full, relaxed shape and can be plumped back up time and time again rather than gradually going flat.

Styling Tip
I’d pair Astwell with Edinburgh Chestnut and Hanwell Ginger. The neutral Astwell fabric gives the eye somewhere to rest between the two patterns and ties all those warm, earthy colours together.
If you choose the rectangle, try turning it over to the Westhorpe side every now and then – it’s such an easy way to change the whole cushion combination without buying anything new.
